Gravesend Dynamite cemented their position at the top of the National South wheelchair RL league with two convincing wins over Kent opposition.
To their credit Dartford Valley Vipers came out of the blocks well and held Gravesend back to just a 30-0 lead at half time but the Dynamite cruised to a 74-0 win by the end.
In the second game Medway Dragons led by England coach Mark Roughsedge came with a strong team including England, Scotland and Wales internationals but Gravesend were comfortable throughout and won 76-10. Roughsedge was particularly impressed with Gravesend's James Hazel and Max Owen.
Squad (tries T and Conversions C in brackets):
V Dartford: Jack Linden (5C), Nevil Hope, Lee Barnes (2T), Cormac Maloney (2T), James Hazel (2T), Jason Owen (2T, 2C), Stephen Murphy (2T, 2C), Jack Gibbs (2T, 2C), Rob Hoob (T). Murphy and Linden got joint player of the game.
v Medway Dragons: Jack Linden (3T, 3C), Nevil Hope (T), Ruth Cubitt, Lee Barnes (T, 7C), Max Owen (3T), James Hazel (4T), Stephen Murphy (T), Ken Maloney (T), Rich Carver, Cormac Maloney. Max Owen and James Hazel man of the match joint.
Particularly pleasing is the Gravesend strength in depth. There were notable absences from the current squad including captain Warren McKee but the squad keep winning. New signings Hoob, Gibbs and Murphy all played very well on their debuts.
With Hereford winning in Folkestone, Gravesend just need one win and a draw from their last three games to be crowned champions but they'll be going for 3 straight wins to remain unbeaten all season.
